The Press Conference of the three kidnapped journalists

Today, just a few hours before, the three Romanian journalists kidnapped for 55 days in Iraq hold their first official press conference.

The ‘atmosphere’ there was much tensioned because of the inflation of scenarios in the media and the lack of true straight answers from the authorities or the kidnapped journalists.

There were two (or maybe three) sides with journalists in the Arcub conference room:
- On one side were the three Romanian journalists kidnapped and freed, Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci & Ovidiu Ohanesian

- In a special position were their colleagues from Prima TV – the only TV station that broadcasted live the press conference - Cristina Topescu and Dan Tudor as moderators and

- On the other side many, many journalists from the Romanian media, 'colleagues' eager to find out more about the kidnapping, the moment of the rescue or release, the connections with Hayssam and Munaf and the explosive and controversial idea that at least one of the kidnapped journalists were somehow involved in the kidnapping…

Of course, as many of us expected, Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci & Ovidiu Ohanesian couldn’t answer many of the hot questions especially those about the rescue and negotiation process.

One of my observations is that Sorin Miscoci talked less then 'Jana' and Ovidiu.

And, Ovidiu told us once that we must understand that he and they can not tell us some things but we can 'read among the lines' his interview in Romania Libera and his declarations in order to understand more.

I hope that Mr Traian Basescu will keep his promise and in a week or so he will tell us more about the whole story, about the implication of Hayssam and Munaf and all the details that are not classified.

Of course I understand that some things need to be and will be classified and kept secret for many years…but we sure need to stop all the scenarios, suppositions and suspicions and find the truth once and for all.
