Hello guys,

Maybe some of you have heard this amazing song.

Maybe some of you have heard the repeating version…the animated endless version posted on some websites… This was a crazy success and was presented as an ‘endurance test’ for music lovers everywhere.

The original song is called LEVAN POLKKA. (IEVAN POLKAA) (Ieva's polka)

LOITUMA is a finish vocal band and the genial 'Ievan Polka' song is on their “Things of Beauty” Album.

The finish traditional song "Leva's Polka" was released in 1998 and hit the charts…and now, in May 2006 is becoming a very popular hit in Romania (and everybody’s listening it on the internet). I am sure that this summer we’ll hear this incredible song in Vama Veche also!

Fellatio decrease the risk of breast cancer

Fellatio may significantly decrease the risk of breast cancer in women !

It seems that...Women who perform the act of fellatio and swallow semen on a regular basis, one to two times a week, may reduce their risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found

Doctors had never suspected a link between the act of fellatio and breast cancer, but new research being performed at North Carolina State University is starting to suggest that there could be an important link between the two.

In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio and swallowed the ejaculatory fluid, over the past ten years, the researchers found that those actually having performed the act regularly, one to two times a week, had a lower occurance of breast cancer than those who had not. There was no increased risk, however, for those who did not regularly perform.

"I think it removes the last shade of doubt that fellatio is actually a healthy act," said Dr. A.J. Kramer of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, who was not involved in the research. "I am surprised by these findings, but am also excited that the researchers may have discovered a relatively easy way to lower the occurance of breast cancer in women."

The University researchers stressed that, though breast cancer is relatively uncommon, any steps taken to reduce the risk would be a wise decision.

"Only with regular occurance will your chances be reduced, so I encourage all women out there to make fellatio an important part of their daily routine," said Dr. Helena Shifteer, one of the researchers at the University. "Since the emergence of the research, I try to fellate at least once every other night to reduce my chances."

The study is reported in Friday's Journal of Medical Research.

In 1991, 43,582 women died of breast cancer, as reported by the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Len Lictepeen, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, said women should not overlook or "play down" these findings.

"This will hopefully change women's practice and patterns, resulting in a severe drop in the future number of cases," Lictepeen said.

Sooner said the research shows no increase in the risk of breast cancer in those who are, for whatever reason, not able to fellate regularly.

"There's definitely fertile ground for more research. Many have stepped forward to volunteer for related research now in the planning stages," he said.

Almost every woman is, at some point, going to perform the act of fellatio, but it is the frequency at which this event occurs that makes the difference, say researchers. Also key seems to be the protein and enzyme count in the semen, but researchers are again waiting for more test data.

The reasearch consisted of two groups, 6,246 women ages 25 to 45 who had performed fellatio and swallowed on a regular basis over the past five to ten years, and 9,728 women who had not or did not swallow. The group of women who had performed and swallowed had a breast cancer rate of 1.9 percent and the group who had not had a breast cancer rate of 10.4 percent.

"The findings do suggest that there are other causes for breast cancer besides the absence of regular fellatio," Shafteer said. "It's a cause, not THE cause."

This is of course another "CNN" prank. ;-)

STEAUA vs RAPID (Take 2)

STEAUA is in the UEFA Cup SEMIFINALS!

With the quarter-final first match between Rapid Bucuresti and Steaua Bucuresti having ended 1-1, we, the Romanians, have been waitting with enthusiasm and emotion this Thursday's return...

This thursday Steaua had a slight advantage after Banel Nicolita scored an away goal on Giulesti in the first match.
Also, Steaua Bucharest, the former European champions, was 'supported' and cheerd by almost 45.000 fans on the National 'Lia Manoliu' stadium. And the stadium was 'an ocean of RED and BLUE'

So, with Steaua needing only to keep a clean sheet at the Lia Manoliu stadium to earn a place in the last four, the thursday match was dominated by a defensive play of Steaua... with RAPID failing to score...

Although Rapid fought hard and dominated the game, Nicolae Dica, Banel Jardel Nicolita or Andrei Cristea caused moments of panic in the Rapid back line .

We can even say that Rapid dominated the game but the goal ocasions' came for Steaua.

Rapid played good football, struggling to get past a resolute Steaua defence, but Buga should have done better with a 64th-minute header, which he steered over the bar, while Emil Dica drilled a 20-metre effort past the right post. However, as Rapid's frustration showed, it was Steaua who almost snatched a winner. Nicolita's free-kick five minutes from time found the head of Sorin Ghionea, only for the Steaua defender to waste a golden opportunity with the goal at his mercy.

The last minutes were very dangerous for the fans with heart problems... Coman, Rapid's Goalkeeper came for a header at 10 meters of Steaua's post...

Rapid diserves our respect and admiration...They are a great team and they diserved a place n the semifinals!

Steaua qualified but DID NOT 'BEAT' RAPID! Steaua qualified but they did not won any match against Rapid...

In this 'ROMANIAN UEFA CUP FINAL', there was nothing to separate the teams over the two legs!!

... except, perhaps, a little assistance from above:

"For the first time ever we are all happy - me, the players and the fans - with a 0-0 draw,"Cosmin Olaroiu, Steaua's coach said.

"Both sides deserved to qualify. Rapid were in no way inferior and maybe God decided that Steaua should go through."

Another great young coach, Razvan Lucescu, who was hiding his emotion and sadness, made a swift exit from his post-match press conference, saying: "I am only staying here for 30 seconds because words are meaningless. Rapid are a sensational team and I am proud of being their coach. We went down bravely."

Ant Rapid sure did went down bravely...

Here you have a great picture with Viorel Moldovan, one of the best Rapid players and one of the best Romanian strikers in the last decade, crying like a baby... And I respect that! I admire his passion and his emotion...Although he is a very experienced player, he wanted so bad to win this match...

CONGRATS Rapid!

Although Rapid won a place in my heart... I remain a red&blue fan... and I sure hope that STEAUA will win the Semifinal agains BORO.

I am sure you know that Middelsbrough made a fantastic match against FC Basel.

I hope that the 4-1 against Basel will be the last victory for Middlesbrough in this year's UEFA Cup.

And I can't wait for the STEAUA vs SCHALKE 04 Final...

Or another STEAUA vs SEVILLIA final would be better?

I want to see the UEAFA trophy in Bucharest! I guess Steaua deservs it after 20 years...

RAPID vs STEAUA (take 1)

They are not sleeping... they are fighting... with passion and dedication... RAPID vs STEAUA... RAPID BUCURESTI vs STEAUA BUCURESTI... the two Romanian teams from Bucharest who fight for a place in the UEFA Semi-Finals...

Tonight, in the first match of the UEFA Quarterfinals it was 1-1!

We will know which team will qualify in the UEFA Semi-Final only after the next Thursday match. Steaua must not loose in order to qualify!

Steaua dominated the first half of the game while Rapid dominated the second.

It was a beautiful match...and ‘the show’ on the stadium was fantastic. The fans and the galleries made a great and unique atmosphere on Giulesti.

Both the referee and the UEFA observer wanted to have pictures with the Romanian crowd in Giulesti. Both Rapid’s and Steaua’s ‘Galleries’ proved that we, the Romanian football fans… are true fanatics but we are not racists and we are not hooligans...

No violence, no problems, only good quality football at this ‘expected huge risk match’.

...and BANEL scored again! BANEL JARDEL NICOLITA rulz! ;-) Nobody can stop him:

The true Match of the millennium, the Romanian dreamed 'UEFA final' will take place next THURSDAY, on the National Stadium (Lia MAnoliu).

Unfortunately, Steaua will not play ‘at home’ on Ghencea…but the Romanians disserved a true ROMANIAN FINAL, on the biggest football stadium in Romania.

A streetcar/tramway called desire…STEAUAvsRAPID

Will Romania be divided? Does the confrontation between RAPID and STEAUA in the UEFA Quarterfinals will bring Bucharest football fans together or it will deepen their rivalries?

Will we have some sort of segregation in the Bucharest’s Bars and Pubs for the STEAUA vs RAPID match?

Are we – the Romanian fans – ready for a ‘fratricide’ war?

Anyways…we do have our dreamed Romanian final…and we will know for sure what team is better: Steaua or Rapid…We won’t have to compare players, budgets, goals or adversaries to decide if Steaua is better than Rapid…

As in our old traditional fairy tales…on April 6, one eye will laugh and one eye will cry…

MAGICA STEAUA!

Piata Universitatii/University Square in Bucharest, last night:

After 20 years, Steaua Bucuresti made history in Sevilia…

Nothing could have happened to Steaua yesterday…Not in Seville and not when the Giants from the legendary 1986 squad were there…

Carlos, who was magnific yesterday, was not alone…Duckadam was there beside him…And Lacatus was fighting the spanish beside Ogararu, Iovan was running beside Banel and I am sure that Bumbescu, Majearu, Tudorel Stoica and everyone of them felt the punch of Joaquin the same moment as Dica... The heroes from Sevilia ’86 were back on their crime scene… And their giant footsteps were still there...

Steaua loves Seville and Seville seems to love Steaua…

The Class of ’06 made the class of ’86 proud… And made us all proud...

Of course Steaua was sometimes ’luky’ yesterday…but it was a well-diserved luck…and Steaua 'fought like hell' yesterday…

The first goal of Banel “Jardel” Nicolita was 'built' on a pure fight, on passion and on inspiration… And this was the match of his career for Oli (Cosmin Olaroiu – The young Coach of Steaua)

Many fans expected the players to…’die’ there on the field… Emrich Jenei, the coach of 1986 told the class of 2006 something so deep and so true:

“Everybody’s expecting you guys to die on the field…I tell you this: go there and LIVE ON THE FILED”…

YES! That’s THE SECRET…LIVE ON THE FIELD…PERFORM YOUR MAGIC!

MAGICA STEAUA…

And Piata Universitatii/The University Square in Bucharest was again bloked and full with 15.000 fans:

Today…we know that STEAUA will meet RAPID in the quarter-finals…STEAUA vs RAPID, two of the best romanian football teams…confrunting eachother in the UEFA Cup Quarter-Finals…in Bucharest!

This will be our TRUE FINAL… And one Romanian Team will reach the Semi-Finals and we hope that, Steaua or Rapid...will bring back in Bucharest the UEFA trophy!

But one thing is sure: one Romanian Team will play the UEFA Cup SemiFinals...May the best team win!

And I sincerely hope it will be the MAGICA STEAUA!

And now let's remember the goals:

Radoi-> Nicolita, Steaua – Betis 1-0

Dica ->Iacob, Steaua – Betis 2-0

And look at Banel Jardel Nicolita scorring the third goal (his second goal)

(…remember the Betis fans crying – you may only imagine what will happen in Bucharest after the second match between Steaua and Rapid… )

How will we be able to watch the matches in Pubs and Bars?!…some of us will be happy and some will be inevitable sad…

But until then... let’s remember the celebration after the Match, and lets remember once again the Titans form 1986:

And what were the odds for Rapid vs Steaua!?!? ...this is both insane and fantastic. Wouldn't be wonderful to bring back to Bucharest the UEFA Trophy from Eindhoven?

And I can't wait to see our new National Team at work... The best players from Steaua, Rapid, Dinamo...+ Mutu, Chivu and some other brilliant romanian players who Perform their Magic all over the world...

Steaua - Valencia (2-0) - with 2 goals by Andrei Cristea. Steaua eliminated the great Spanish Team on penalties.

Today…after 20 years Steaua Bucharest returns to Sevilia…

20 years ago Steaua won the UEFA Champions Cup there…

On 7 May 1986, Steaua became the first Romanian side to lift club football's greatest prize by defeating FC Barcelona 2-0 on penalties following a goalless draw at Sevilla FC's Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium.

HELMUTH DUCKADAM, the legendary goalkeeper of Steaua Bucharest during the European Champions Cup final against F.C. Barcelona, played in Seville, in May 1986. He saved four consecutive penalty shots, from Jose Alexanco, Angle Pedraza, Pichi Alonso and Marcos, being the first one to do so in an official European competition.

Tonight, March 16 2006, after 20 years, STEAUA BUCURESTI is fighting BETIS SEVILIA for a place in the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Cup. In Seville…

And Marius Lacatus, one of the heros in 1986, is now the President of FC Steaua.

Steaua owner Gigi Becali invited all of that 1986 squad to travel aboard the same charter flight to Spain as the class of 2006, who are looking to reach the UEFA Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Real Betis Balompié following a 0-0 first-leg draw.

Dukadam will bring with him at the match the gloves he wore in the 1986 final. "I want Steaua to qualify so who knows, if it comes to penalties again, I might give my gloves to Steaua keeper Carlos Alberto Fernandes." said Ducadam.

Stefan Iovan, Steaua's captain in the 1986 showpiece in the absence of the suspended Tudorel Stoica, has also journeyed to southern Spain along with team-mates Adrian Bumbescu, Ilie Barbulescu, Mihail Majearu, Lucian Balan, Marin Radu and Constantin Pistol.

Laszlo Bölöni - now coaching French club Stade Rennais FC - is set to meet up with his former colleagues in Spain. It all augurs well... Let's hope God will help and give strenght to our guys tonight.

I am betting on a '1-1' score…Or maybe 'o-o' and penalties again… Carlos I sure hope that you are prepared, man! ;-)

Building Your Personal Brand!

This Wednesday I will attend an event that was born from the need of the Romanian students to be well prepared for their personal and professional development after their graduation. We invite you at the Expeditie in HR event for a very interactive lecture, or better said for a mind challenging discussion, this Wednesday at 13:00 hours. I was glad to find out that Andy Szekely will also be there.

Reading the event agenda I have understood that Wednesday is a day dedicated to… “PERSONAL BRAND” – how can you build a personal brand and what are your personal development needs in order to become the person you want to be.

Well, in the beginning it’s very important to know what you really want and to have a clear image about what you want to happen in and with your life. In order to fulfill your dream, first of all you must have one.

Brands are like people who know who they are and where they are heading, as Andrei said, and of course in order to have a personal brand you must understand who you are now, in this very moment and who you hope to become in the future…where you are heading and why.

So, once in a while, forget about your needless day to day worries and frustrations and start dreaming. Let yourself picture in your mind a better future and a better… ‘you’!

Since we are talking about Personal Brands – both in this article and in the Wednesday event - maybe it will be interesting for you to know something about me.

My name is Cristian C. FRANCU.

I am a 26 years old, open-minded, motivated, ambitious, energetic young Romanian, an entrepreneur who knows that together we are stronger. And only together we can change and develop our businesses, our community and our country from the economical, political, social and cultural points of view. But changing our country means changing ourselves in the beginning. In life we can not change the world but we CAN change ourselves... Leadership begins with yourself as an individual!

I am an Academy of Economic Studies Graduate and Alumnus and I was a proud member of the VIP -Volunteers for Ideas and Projects organization.

If you take a look at this two photos above, from your comfy chair, in front of your desktop…you can easily see and recognize:

NOW, take a few seconds and… stand up from your chair, walk a few steps backwards… or better said… move away from your computer desktop (from your monitor ;-))

So... DO WE REALLY SEE the REAL 'face of things' and people...!? ;-)

And guys…Deb, Picselutz and all the 'Photoshop masters' out there…can you do this?
Can you create/generate images like these two in Photoshop or other 'cool design and/or photo mastering software'?

It seems that the secret of these pics is that they used some sort of low frequency filters …but how is this possible…

They actually change places…

Only Mr. ANGRY Man and Mrs. CALM Woman might know…

HOW is it possible?

Using a technique they described 1994, Philippe G. Schyns & Aude Oliva (1999) hid 2 faces in one hybrid image: one image was high-pass filtered (≥ 8 cpd), the other low-pass filtered (≤ 2 cpd) [reproduced with kind permission].

With normal vision, the higher spatial frequency image ‘wins’. When blurring the image (by whatever means, walking away in thses case!), only the low-pass image remains.

This method can be applied to many image types, but with a face exchange it seems especially amazing.

A dog killed a man in the city center of Bucharest!

I am outraged.

A ‘stray’ street dog killed a Japanese business man in downtown Bucharest. In January 2006!

In the very city center, in the Victoriei Square, near the Victoriei Palace – the Romanian Government HQs – so in the ‘downtown’ of Bucharest, a dog bit a man this Saturday. And the man scrambled in agony 30 meters to get home.

The ‘dammed dog’ bit the man's calf and thighs and unfortunately he managed to cope his artery. The Japanese citizen, age 68, who was the President of the Nippon-Romanian Association, lost a lot of blood. And he died in the hospital this Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Razvan Murgeanu, the Bucharest’s Vice-Mayor said that there must be taken ‘radical measures’ to take the stray dogs from the streets.

More than that, the law must be modified. I love dogs, I can not be accused that I hate dogs, but this is outrageous. If I have to choose between a man’s life or a dog’s life I choose without any doubt the man’s life. So this kind of dogs should be…’put to sleep’…

If a dog has an owner his owner must accept some responsibilities also…
If an ‘owned’ dog is free and bites somebody…or could bite somebody…the owner must be fined.
I remember that a few years ago more Romanian kids were injured by attacks from dangerous dogs… And some dog breeds were prohibitted...

And if a dog has no owner and nobody wants, can and/or will take care of the dog…I must say…there are always 'painless euthanasia methods'…

A Man died today, attacked by a street dog in Bucharest!

And when our President, Mr Traian Basescu, when he was the Mayor of Bucharest, started a campaign to gather and maybe kill some of the dangerous street dogs of Bucharest, many hated him for that and many tried to stop him, his campaign and and the dog catchers teams.

Brigitte Bardot came to Romania to persuade Mr Basescu to let the dogs live.

OK…but Live and let Live!

If a Man died, we must do something and avoid a next 'deadly encounter between a man and a street dog'…

A dog that kills is not a domestic animal in my eyes…it is a wild dangerous creature that must be killed before it kills again!

And please don’t get me wrong! Please understand that I love dogs, I had dogs and I will have dogs as pets, friends and even…’family members’!

I hope the japanese citizen who died today will rest in peace! And for his family and friends…Please accept my sympathy and condolences! Maybe, in time, you will learn to forgive our authorities…!

Myself, as a Bucharest proud citizen, I am outraged! This must not happen again!

Interesting update:

As Alex Hanganu suggested... do we know for sure that the attacking dog was a street dog?

The answer is NO!

So...the dog that bit the Japanese business man, Mr. Hajime Hori, who was president of KOYO Romania, might have been a ‘trained’ dog?

Is the ‘homicide’ hypothesis out of question?

Mr. Hajime Hori was attacked and bit by the dog in courtyard of his office building near the Victoriei Square…not on the street as I suspected…

It seems that the only 'witness' of the incident was the doorman who observed Mr. Hajime Hori when it was to late…after he entered the building. All Mr. HajimeHori said was: "Cainele...Salvarea..."/"The dog...The Ambulance..."

KOYO Romania is a part of Koyo Seiko who also is a part of Toyota. It seems that KOYO Romania have ‘took up’ “Rulmentul Alexandria” in 2001 and signed an important contract with Honda.

Was there a stray dangerous street dog in the courtyard?

Was there a trained ‘killer’ dog?

Was there a free owned dangerous dog?

We don’t really know for sure!
Let’s wait for the Police investigation conclusions…

Either way…if it was a street dog or a 'cold bloodily' premeditative attack of a trained dog … this is something that must not happen again!

About this Cool Design Contest?

The rules of this game are thus: Use nature and geography as your canvas. (i.e. Make a lake shaped like a teletubbie, or volcanic rock look like a dragon, constellation patterns that seem to look like images, or rock shapes that seem to resemble actual things). So long as it is inanimate (i.e. no animal print patterns) it is fair game for your pictures, patterns and symbols. Manmade objects are allowable too if they are extremely large and unconnected in nature (i.e. the lights of North America seen from outer space) otherwise stick to 'natural' occurrences. As always, quality is a must. We will remove poor entries no matter how much we like you.

As far as I know an Immortal cannot die unless decapitated and it seems that all Immortals are engaged in an ancient dispute, at the end of which only one Immortal will be left, thus: "There can be only one”

I especially enjoyed the banned ads section!

Some of the ads and clips presented here were banned in a country and won advertising awards in others.

Some were banned and some were only rejected by the client or the national Advertising Standard Authorities in each country.

You must see the AMY BIEHL FOUNDATION TV AD

It won a Clio in New York and was banned in South Africa.

The advertisement features a young (12 - 14 year old) black boy in surroundings of an impoverished informal settlement uttering words to the effect that in a few years time he will be involved in a hi-jacking situation and will shoot the owner of the vehicle if he puts up any resistance, and a young (12 - 14 year old) white boy, also in surroundings evidencing a poor working class area, uttering words to the effect that in a few years time he will be begging at a shopping centre, and that if the person from whom he would be begging walks away from him, he would attack this person by stabbing him three times.

And you must see the follow up shown on TV after the banning of the initial clip.

“Remember me” the first black boy in the initial clip is saying
“Some people didn’t like what I had to say about my future so they stop the adver, but that won’t change anything” Only education can change the future!

On the website you cand also find very interesting presentations of the arguments against and pro every banned ad or clip.

From the rejected ads section, a must see is The TAMPAX (Nike) ad… Procter&Gamble loved the ad but NIKE Belgium banned it from going public…;-)

Thoughts about love

I have many friends, boys and girls, men and women… And every one of them, every one of us, have a special ‘relation’ with… LOVE!

I have friends who are in love and friends who want to fall in love, friends who are involved and friends who are single, friends who are married and friends who are looking, friends who are disappointed and friends who are available, friends who are desperate for love and friends who are tired and suffocated by too much love, friends who love and are not loved back and friends who are loved and don’t love back…

LOVE is a constant paradigm, dream and feeling in our life; either we are or we are not in love…we are thinking about it…
LOVE is all around us!

Either we are focusing on our career, even if we truly believe that we don’t need love for the moment (because we have different priorities, right?!) we are definitely thinking about it…

And thinking about LOVE…not in a platonic way… here you have some ‘Murphy style laws’ …that are sometimes so true…

Creative minds will do… ‘anything’ for a beer or some beer money… ;-)

This guys here, asked Bogdy 5.000 ROL in order to let him take their picture…and he paid.

They have a business proposal for the ladies…and they assure us or their virtual clients that they do have the approval and acceptance from the Health Ministry…

For the non Romanian readers…those brave guys advertise the fact that they will perform …! PARENTAL ADVISORY! “oral sex (pussy lickin’)” ! PARENTAL ADVISORY! For a beer!

I am sure they didn’t have any (paying) client for their services...but I know that they earned their beers accepting money for pictures from guys like me and Bogdy…;-)

Tequila stories (from Vama Veche)

Indianu (Iulian on his ID Card…) was caring the Skol Beer waiter tray with the 10 Tequila Shots, the lemon and the salt on it…when he was ‘pushed’ by a guy who passed by... probably on his way to the well known toilet near B52…

Only a few drops of tequila poured out of the small glasses…

but this was enough to drive my friend crazy…

Just look at his face expression and his eyes…

Can you guess what is he saying? ;-)

“I’ll kill you like some rats” – he shouted with absolute anger… protecting our precious Tequila shots…

And…unfortunetly I do not have pictures from that incredible 31 July morning … after Mihai Seceleanu’s birthday Party (MeHigh’s party took place also in B21 in Vama Veche) when, me, Mihai Seceleanu, Mihai Botea and Paul (if you’ve been in Vama Veche this summer you couldn't miss them…) struggled to finish a bottle of Mexican Tequila…

You should have seen us, after the Sunrise, La Stuf, very ‘tired’, after a full night and after we ‘emptied’ many other bottles...fighting with that Tequila bottle in a 'Vama Veche style' manly contest:
Shot after shot, lemon after lemon, salt lift after salt lift…

We took shot after shot in two teams of two…and every successful shot on our throats was a provocation and a challenge for the other team to follow our example and do the same ritually gesture...

Can you imagine the end of this story?

And do you think it’s easy to move MeHigh from the La Stuf bench into his tent? The other Mihai tried and he suffered the consequences…

Memories, tequila shots…Vama Veche… the place where the only difference between night and day is the way you (un)dress yourself…

This is a protest against the outrageous prices for oil and oil derivates products. This post urges you NOT to buy gas, petrol or any petrol derivates products on the 1st of October 2005.

Saturday, October the 1st 2005, nobody should buy gas or petrol!

The continuous and constant growth of the petrol and gas prices is both dangerous and wrong...

This might be one of the last moments we, as consumers, can react and make an impact!

The key Moment is Saturday, October the 1st 2005! You are all invited in this Movement…

If in this day, (October 1, 2005) no Romanian, or no American, no French or no German will buy petrol or gas… our message will be clear enough…

Stop buying petrol, gas or petrol derivates on the 1st of October 2005.

We, as consumers and clients still have the power to influence the market…

'Mars Spectacular' on August 27?

According to a forwarded email circulating for the past few months, the planet Mars is due for an unprecedented close encounter with Earth on Saturday, August 27, when a wobble in its orbit brings the two planets closer together than they have been for thousands of years.

"No one alive today will ever see this again," claims the email — which is a head-scratcher, considering that precisely the same thing supposedly happened two years ago.

Turns out, the message is a recycled flier from 2003. Even so, it's not entirely false. Earth and Mars will pass very close to one another again in October (not August) 2005, astronomers say, at which time their orbits will be a mere 43 million miles apart (slightly more than the 35 million miles separating them in 2003). It won't quite equal the once-in-a-lifetime show of two years ago, but the encounter will be "breathtaking" nonetheless, scientists predict, with the red planet outshining every object in the night sky save Venus and the Moon. Interesting fact:

If Mars would be seen 'as big as the Moon'…the Red Planet should be at a distance form Earth around 484.000 miles – twice the distance from Earth to the Moon. This would be truly a spectacular an unprecedented event because the Gravity force or Mars would unleash on Earth ocean tides that would destroy everything in their path.

Thank God the email or Instant Message pretending that on August 27 Mars would be seen “as the Earth’s second moon” is a fake…

But…from a diffrent point of view, if you want to get out of the house, during the night or during the day…on the sea-side or in the mountains, in the park or on your balcony…just do so…

You will be able to spot Mars on the sky…and if you have somebody loved near you…it could be a truly romantic moment…

• Scientists at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research in Pittsburgh announced in June that they had drained dogs' blood from their bodies, filled them with a replacement fluid, and then revived them by successfully reinfusing blood three hours later, thus creating for a time "zombie" dogs. During the three hours, the dogs were clinically dead, with no heartbeat or brain activity, but after reinfusion and electric shocks, they came back to life, normal with no brain damage. 6. political candidate dies but still wins the election
7. family thinks he's dead, but he's not and attends his own funeral
8. hunters shoot each other
9. funeral home owner neglects/mixes up bodies
10. "victimized" drug buyer complains to police that someone sold him weak or bogus drugs
11. some countries prohibit giving children certain names
12. in middle of an obvious drug raid, customer wanders up and asks cop if he can buy some drugs
13. shoots himself while supposedly demonstrating gun safety
14. global warming caused by animal methane
15. burglar gets stuck in vent or chimney
16. courthouse visitor/defendant inadvertently places contraband on the
x-ray tables at entrance
17. burglar falls asleep during job.
18. family accidentally leaves behind a kid at a highway rest stop
19. driver's license applicant crashes into examiner station before or during test

Four Words Film Reviews (KISS)

I use to talk a lot…I like to talk, to debate, I know how to listen (we have two ears and only one mouth, right? ;-)) and I enjoy speaking…public speaking or…;-) private speaking, debating, negotiating etc… I love to make speeches, to tell stories…I am a TRAINER God damn it …so…I am sure you understand what I am trying to say here, right? ;-)

Some people, some friends told me more than once that I must KISS…I must… Keep It Short and Simple… ;-) I must become more succinct… Also many of my trainees told me they loved my style and my stories….but a Training is a Training and an ordinary conversation with your friends is…just something else! ;-)

I also enjoy movies…good movies, movies with a message, movies with great actors, screenplay, director, story…etc… I especially enjoy movies (films) with an unexpected final… I love films that have something to tell the viewer...

And if a movie or film impressed me, I want to tell my friends about it… And of course I tend to focus on the things, actors, moments or details that impressed me…and …I know that I must KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid….so….what’s the whole Idea?

It’s 'a world wide survey'…about 'the poverty and hunger problem' in Africa and other third world areas on the globe…

If you know the results…a reminder can do no harm. So here are the amazing conclusions:

A worldwide survey was conducted by the UN.
The only question asked was:
"Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world?"

The survey was a huge failure... Why!??!

In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant.
In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant.
In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant.
In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant.
In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant.
In South America they didn't know what "please" meant.
And in the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant

British American Tobacco (BAT) will probably switch it's UK production to Romania

British American Tobacco (BAT) plans to close its last two factories in Britain and Ireland, with the loss of around 600 jobs, as it looks to switch cigarette production to Asia and continental Europe.

The world's second-largest cigarette group, which makes Lucky Strike, Kent, Dunhill and Pall Mall brands worldwide, said on Wednesday it was seeking to close its Southampton factory within 18 to 24 months, with the loss of around 530 jobs. Most of the plant's output is for export.
Irish unit PJ Carroll is planning to close its plant in Dundalk, 80 km (50 miles) north of Dublin, which employs 66 people. It is operating at 45 percent capacity following rises in tobacco taxes and Ireland's ban on smoking in public places.

That sound bad for the BAT’s British and Irish employees and interesting for BAT’s shareholders…

The restructuring will cost around 160 million pounds said BAT, most of that charged to 2005, but would save 40 million pounds a year thereafter.

BAT is a relatively small player in the UK cigarette market with around a 6 percent share through brands such as Rothmans, Dunhill and Lucky Strike, in a domestic market dominated by Imperial Tobacco and Gallaher Group

A BAT spokeswoman said the closures were forced by the two plants running at low capacity, a new European Union directive on higher-tar cigarettes and the cost savings from producing cigarettes nearer the markets where they are consumed.

The remaining Southampton production will probably switch to Romania, Switzerland and Poland, the spokeswoman added.

And that is a good news for Romania… new investments, new jobs…

As I am sure you already know…Romania's Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu said today that his Cabinet would resign and early elections would be called after the Constitutional Court's ruling blocked essential justice reforms required by the European Union.

In Romania…IT IS the TIME for JUSTICE and the Time for TRUTH…

And, after the new barbaric attack in London (more than 33 killed and seriously 300 injured), after we understood and astonished realized that in the world today 30.000 people die in Africa every day in extreme poverty…

Wherever we are…Let's stand United and support Freedom and our way of living, let's stop both poverty and terror, let's stop unnecessary and barbaric death, either caused by extreme poverty or barbaric terrorism acts...

Over 33 killed in London blasts & Egypt's top envoy to Iraq kiled - Al Qaeda again !?

Over 33 killed, nearly 300 hurt in London blasts

In the bloodiest terror attack in London in three decades, suspected Islamic militants on Thursday carried out coordinated blasts in underground stations and a bus killing more than 33 people and injuring nearly 300 of which 45 were serious.

Sky television, however, said at least 45 people were killed in the explosions.

Thirty three people died in the explosions at three stations and there were unspecified number of fatalities in the blast in the double-decker bus that ripped through its roof, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan police, Brian Paddick, told a crowded press conference.

A visibly shaken Prime Minister Tony Blair, hosting the G-8 summit of the world's richest nations at Gleneagles in Scotland, said it was "reasonably clear" that there has been a series of terrorist attacks.

A previously unknown al-Qaeda-linked group claimed the responsibility for the attacks. Italian news agency ANSA said that Secret Group of Al-Qaeda's Jihad in Europe in a website posting also warned Italy and Denmark to withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.

However, Paddick said police have not received any claim of responsibility. "We don't know whether it is a genuine claim. We are looking at all leads."
Paddick said seven people were killed in the first explosion in an underground railway tunnel near Moorgate on the edge of London's financial district, 21 in a second near King's Cross and another five at Edgware Road station in West London. There were fatalities in the explosion in the bus at Tavistock Square.

He said nearly 300 people were injured in the explosions of which 45 were serious. The injured were being treated at various hospitals.

The explosions in the three stations occurred within a span of 26 minutes while the fourth blast in the bus took place half-an-hour later during the morning rush hour.

Describing the situation as "fluid", Paddick said the underground transport system of London will remain closed on Thursday and is likely to restart operations on Friday.

Immediately after the terror strikes, authorities shut down the entire underground network and bus services and asked people to stay wherever they were till the situation was brought under control. However, airports operated normally.

Meanwhile… Egypt's top envoy to Iraq, Ihab al-Sherif, has been killed, according to a Web posting Thursday attributed to al Qaeda in Iraq.

"...We, the al Qaeda in the land of the two rivers, announce that the verdict of God against the ambassador of the infidels, the ambassador of Egypt, has been executed, praise be to God," the statement said.

Islamic militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi heads al Qaeda in Iraq. The statement was posted on a Web site commonly used by the group to make statements.

Al Qaeda in Iraq has claimed responsibility for kidnapping the diplomat near his Baghdad home on Saturday.

This is the Web statement refers to al-Zarqawi, called "our sheikh." :

"May God protect him and make his aiming precise and his feet steadfast. The consultative council for the al Qaeda in Iraq is determined to confront the Jews and the crusaders and all those who side with them. “ […] "We threaten all the countries of the tyrants and tell them that the land of the two rivers is no longer a safe place for the infidels because in it God has granted power to a group of mujahedeen men who are fighting for the sake of God."

On Wednesday the group, citing Islamic law, said that Shariah courts of al Qaeda met and decided that al-Sherif should be killed. The group condemned Egyptian policies and posted ID cards belonging to al-Sherif. He arrived in Iraq last month, the first diplomat to represent an Arab country in Iraq after the ouster of Saddam Hussein.

We will have Elections again…Early Elections…

The Early Elections Traian Basescu talked about and, if we may say so…dreamed about…

Romania's Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu said today that his Cabinet would resign and early elections would be called after the Constitutional Court's ruling blocked essential justice reforms required by the European Union.

The irrevocable decision of Mr Tariceanu was taken after a talk head to head with Traian Basescu and after Mr. Jonathan Scheele, the European Commission's head of mission in Bucharest said that the rejection would have a negative impact on Romania's EU bid.

Critical justice reforms were requested by the European Union, which Romania wants to join in 2007. If Romania fails to reform its justice system and enforce antitrust rules, then as per EU's warning its admission would be delayed by a year.

The court, declared certain parts of the justice laws to be unconstitutional. The challenge in the Constitutional Court was brought by deputies from the opposition Social Democrats.

Tariceanu met today with President Traian Basescu to discuss the situation. The Prime Minister later announced his resignation and said that legal procedures to hold new elections would be started.

``The blocking of the justice reforms means we have no chance to get a good report from the European Union that would allow us to join in 2007,'' Tariceanu said speaking on television from the government headquarters.

He said new elections were needed to get a stronger majority that would pass the justice reforms.

As Traian Basescu said months ago…( and for the record - the Prime Minister did not agreed at that time ) the Alliance for Justice and Truth - Alianta DA (PD + PNL) - needs to turn back to the Romanian people and ask for it's trust and support.

``People can vote on whether they want to keep this dirty (justice) system, with a Constitutional Court dominated by the former ruling (Social Democratic) Party.''

Parliament can overturn the court's decision with a two-thirds majority, but the ruling coalition lacks the majority necessary to overturn the court's ruling.

The court, which is packed with people who are close to former president Ion Iliescu and former Social Democratic Party lawmakers, declared certain parts of the justice laws to be unconstitutional.

The judges struck down passages which provided for competition for judicial appointments and a mandatory retirement age for judges.

Justice Minister Monica Macovei said those measures were necessary to provide for competent judges and an end to political influence on the courts.

The EU commission said Romania would have to make continuous progress to be able to join in 2007, and that Romania needed to have an ``independent, impartial and efficient'' justice system. The commission added that it would study the court's ruling, state news agency Rompres reported.

The opposition Social Democratic Party, which had asked the court to review the laws, has denied that it influenced the court's ruling through its former members that dominate the court.

Former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase, a senior Social Democratic Party leader and chairman of the lower house of parliament, offered to recall lawmakers from vacation to discuss the laws.

Romanian law stipulates that early elections can be called only if parliament is unable to choose a government within 60 days after the Cabinet's resignation.
I bet if Elections would hapend this week-end The D.A. Alliance would won the majority in Parliament.

Although the Alliance had some internal issues and small problems in the last month, if PD and PNL stay close and united…they really have the chance to obtain what they need, what they want and what Mr Basescu said months ago that they must win…more than 50% of the votes.

Traian Basescu is expected to adress the people this evening!

Do I have to remind you that Traian Basescu never lost a battle in his political career?

Maybe this is what Romanian needs.
And I am glad that Tariceanu finally has ‘the balls’ to do it…

Do you think that the Conservative Party AKA PUR…or the Voiculescu’s Party will obtain the 5% needed to enter the Parliament in the future Early Elections?

Do you think that UDMR might also lose it’s eternal place in the Romanian Parliament?

Do you think that Mircea Geoana (the new President of PSD) has what it takes to won the battle?

Do you think that DA will obtain easy it’s wanted majority without the precious support from Mr President Basescu?

Do you think that this is a good moment for a United ‘right’ in the Romanian political scene? Do you think that the Popular Parties will join forces?

What do you expect to be the next almost ‘desperate’ move of Voiculescu? Will he join forces with DA or will he have the big balls to enter the Electoral Campaign on his own? Or maybe again with PSD?

“Romania Mare” The Greater Romania Party has the power to obtain more than 10%?

And what about Gigi Becali’s “New Generation” Party ? More or less than 2 %?

It’s summer and… we’re starting to boil again…

I’m sure you already know or at least you suspect the fact that I am a DA supporter and especially a supporter of Mr Traian Basescu…

Well, YES I am (Pai, nu? Pai, DA!), and I am still proud to recognize it! You can read my posts from December 2004 to understand why.

And as a supporter of the Justice and Truth Alliance… I believe that the top priority in our country is a credible, 'clean', modren, true and fair Justice system…

These concerts were the start point for The Long Walk To Justice, the one way we can all make our voices heard in unison.

The G8 leaders have it within their power to alter history. They will only have the will to do so if tens of thousands of people show them that enough is enough.

The Long Walk To Justice is the symbolic journey of millions of people across the world to show the G8 leaders that the world is watching and waiting.

What should the white band look like?

This is entirely up to you. Some suggestions are wrist bands, arm bands, head bands, lapel bands, etc. This action was chosen because it is simple for anyone to get involved - you can just make your own white band with a piece of fabric.

Do our white bands have to bear a slogan or a message?

Many groups will be organising under a national slogan. India, for example, will be organising the action under the banner of 'Deliver the Promises'. The UK is organising the action under the banner 'Make Poverty History' and that will be written on many of the bands. Who should wear the white band?

Ronan Keating, The Sugababes, The Corrs, Natasha Bedingfield and Texas are preparing to play the final Live 8 concert in Edinburgh.

They will be joined by Annie Lennox, Snow Patrol, Travis, Youssou N'Dour and McFly, who played previous Live 8 concerts on Saturday.

The Murrayfield Stadium event coincides with the start of the G8 summit and Live 8's Long Walk To Justice rally.

The free event will be broadcast on BBC television, radio and online.

Live 8 organizers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure are also due to perform at the concert, to be hosted by comedians Lenny Henry and Peter Kay.
African artists from pop star Peter Gabriel's Womad music festival will also take part, and a number of "very special" speakers are planned.
As in London's Live 8 concert, 21,000 free pairs of tickets to the event were allocated in a text message competition.

The Edinburgh concert follows 10 Live 8 gigs in cities including London, Philadelphia, Paris, Berlin, Johannesburg, Rome and Moscow on Saturday.

Geldof was joined by Hollywood acting couple Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon as he boarded a train to Edinburgh from London's Euston station on Tuesday.

When he originally announced the Live 8 concerts in May, Geldof called for one million supporters to march to Edinburgh for the Long Walk To Justice rally.

Lothian and Borders Police responded that such a large influx of visitors would be "potentially hazardous" to a city with a population of 453,000.

On Tuesday Geldof said protesters who clashed with police earlier in the week had "nothing to do with our message".

"Our message is about dignity and respect for people, upholding values of being human and allowing each human to use their life and not have it taken away by poverty," he said.

Live 8's Edinburgh concert will be broadcast on BBC Two Scotland from 2000 BST, on BBC One Scotland from 2245 BST and on BBC Three from 2145 BST on Wednesday.

The concert will be streamed live on www.bbc.co.uk.

I have a very good friend of mine who sometimes, a few years ago, answered the phone when his mother called and asked us to make some strange noises…like a train, a bus or something like that ;-)

I used to 'copy' very well the sound of the…gasoline in the bus ;-)

FLOODS and the Romanian wheat Crop

Since we were talking about water... and how important, essential and benefic is the water for our life, body and health…here is some dramatic info and news. Sometimes there is TOO MUCH WATER:

The heavy floods in the recent days may slash Romania's 2005 wheat crop estimate of 7.6 million tones by more than 20 percent, Agriculture Minister Gheorghe Flutur said on Monday.

Romania is today one of the major cereal producers in the Black Sea region!
Romania had expected to harvest another big wheat crop this year, which could help the European Union candidate boost exports to traditional Middle East markets.

"The crop forecast could be slashed by more than 20 percent by floods," Flutur was quoted as saying by state news agency Rompres.

The heavy floods at the weekend killed six people and damaged 2,000 homes in southern counties on the Danube river border with Bulgaria.

The affected area, where about 560 people were forced to abandon their villages, cultivates almost exclusively wheat.

Romania harvested a three-year record high crop of 7.65 million tones last year, but prohibitive domestic prices, which exceeded international levels, kept grain exports at a meager 100,000 tones in 2004/05.

Romania put about 2.5 million hectares under wheat last year against two million the year before.

In the first study to map brain function during orgasm, scientists from the Netherlands also found that as a woman climaxes, an area of the brain that governs emotional control is also heavily deactivated.

"The fact that there is no deactivation in faked orgasms means a basic part of a real orgasm is letting go. Women can imitate orgasm quite well, as we know, but there is nothing really happening in the brain," said neuroscientist Gert Holstege, presenting his findings Monday at the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

In the study, Holstege and his colleagues at Groningen University recruited 11 men and 13 women, together with their respective partners.

The volunteers laid on a scanning machine bed and were injected with a dye that shows changes in brain function on a scan. For the men, the brain scanner tracked activity during rest, during erection, during manual stimulation by their partner and then during ejaculation, brought on by the partner's hand. For the women, the scanner measured brain activity during rest, while they faked an orgasm, during manual stimulation by their partner, and while they experienced genuine orgasm.

Holstege said he had trouble getting reliable results from the study on men because the scanning machine needs activities lasting at least two minutes to record an activity. ;-)

But the men's climaxes didn't last anywhere near that lone, meaning he could not reliably compare the scans before climax and during.

However, for women, the results were clear, he said.

When women faked orgasm, the cortex, the part of the brain governing conscious action, lit up. It was not activated during genuine orgasm.

The most striking results, however, were seen in the parts of the brain that shut down, or deactivated.

"During orgasm, there was strong, enormous deactivation in the brain. During fake orgasm, there was no deactivation of the brain at all. None," Holstege said. "It looks like to have an orgasm, you need to not be fearful or full of anxiety."

I usually avoid posting articles in the Romanian language on this blog…but this is a special message for…a “jackass” friend of mine and for 'the stupid friend' of...many Romanians.

Today we ‘celebrate’ 15 years since June 15, 1990. If you don’t know what happened in Bucharest 15 years ago, maybe it’s for the better... If you need a clue...you can read my previous post.

Anyways…I was thinking to post here only Cotidianul.

But I changed my mind…I feel that this might be too important for some friends of ours, to read and remember.

So, here it is, in the Romanian language not because I can not translate it into English but especially because it’s a message for the Romanians, either living in Romania or abroad, young or old, former supporters or former opponents of the “Piata Universitatii”/“University Square” phenomenon in June 1990.

APEL CATRE UN PRIETEN DOBITOC

Nu vreau sa te insult, incerc doar sa-ti atrag atentia. E bine ca acum, cind nu se mai prinde nimeni si cind ai ajuns la aparenta unui om civilizat, sa-ti reamintesti cit rau ti-ai facut singur, in urma cu multi ani.

Piata Universitatii a murit de batrinete, la un moment dat, prin anii ’90. S-a stins in uitare si indiferenta, parasita de copiii stabiliti acum in SUA si Canada. Cind si cind, la aniversarea decesului, din 13-15 iunie in 13-15 iunie, memoria afectiva se prezinta la parastas cu lacrimile uscate si cu aceeasi litanie resemnata mormaita pe la stiri.

Cind spun Piata Universitatii, eu nu ma refer deloc la violenta din final. Crimele cu voie de la stapinire sint doar epilogul fenomenului, partea lui urita si dispensabila. Minerii, scutierii, securistii revopsiti, bitele de lemn, militienii-calauze, trutulestii, cama- rasestii, conversatia Chitac-Diamandescu si multumirile lui Iliescu sint din alt film. Un thriller descris cu acuratete, secventa cu secventa, de Codul penal.

Navalirea ortacilor si entuziasmul de dinainte al Pietei nu au nimic in comun. De aceea, eu separ cu o linie convenabila cintecele de tirnacop. Sa ne amintim: folk, poezie, disidenti, umor, aplauze, politica, sunet de chei, solidaritate. Un grup de tineri a stricat pentru o luna socotelile unei tari. O tara trezita din somn cu draperiile ridicate, frecindu-se speriata la ochi de atita lumina.

Pentru alegatorul buimac, sculat, dar nedesteptat inca, versul inseamna galagie, aplauzele fac deranj, iar umorul aduce a pericol. Putini, inteligenti si inconstienti, tinerii isi joaca viitorul pe o rima. Ei stiu ca o vorba de duh face cit un cosmar si improvizeaza cu indrazneala sub fereastra Puterii intimidate. Din formula euforiei e izgonita orice forma de bilci.

In spatele comediantului sta mereu ideea. Minti si condeie de prima mina se pun in slujba serbarii. Politica e articulata cu finete in discursul ludic. Putina multime a Pietei cere Punctul Opt de la Timisoara: comunistii trebuie sa plece din structuri. E cel mai radical program politic de la rezistenta in munti incoace.

Profunde, vizionare si pasnice, aceste voci pe care clasa muncitoare le viseaza urit vor rapid democratie, nu vor sa ocoleasca pe drumul lui Brucan. Isi striga idealul cu veselie, il cinta in fiecare seara, il glorifica in ceremo-nii si-l transmit rudelor ursuze din provincie ca pe o epidemie luminoasa, dar slaba, care nu se ia.

Privita cu un ochi pervers, aceasta febrilitate festiva aduce putin a Saturnalii, dar bacantele si satirii Pietei sint destepti, inocenti, plasati de partea buna si, nu voi obosi s-o repet, putini.

De cealalta parte sint cei multi. Cei multi pur si simplu, multimea inertiala indobitocita de trecut, si ceilalti, putinii celor multi, apropiatii domnului Iliescu cocotati, fiecare dupa lungimea ghearelor, pe capra. Esential pentru aceasta fauna mi se pare nu orbirea sau ticalosia ei, ci faptul elementar ca n-a avut dreptate.

Ei, cei multi, prosti, orbi sau nemernici, de-a valma cu stapinii emanati, s-au inselat. Pe cind ei, cei putini, batutii, injuratii si scuipatii Pietei, demonizatii anilor ce vor urma, vinovatii predilecti din cuvintarile Puterii, drogatii, legionarii si spionii aciuati in Piata – ei au avut dreptate.

Sint cincisprezece ani de atunci. Tinerii sint acum maturi si au ramas si mai putini. Oricit ai fi de dobitoc, oricit de mult i-ai fi urit la vremea lor, n-ai cum sa nu le dai dreptate. Daca lucrurile ar fi mers dupa ei, cei putini, ar fi fost mai bine. Daca fostii activisti, securistii si informatorii fostei Securitati erau blocati de lustratie, traiai intr-o tara mai buna.

Ti-era mai bine, mai repede. E limpede si usor de priceput, chiar si pentru tine.

Despre Piata Universitatii nu poate vorbi destul nici macar procesul lui Iliescu. Condamnarea unui ba- trin expirat n-ar rascumpara nimic. Nici condamnarea tuturor complicilor n-ar ajunge. Ar fi o tardiva aplicare a legii si atit.

Destinele pustanilor de-atunci, schimbate de unanima prostie, sint imposibil de recuperat. Ofensa adusa spiritului liber – imposibil de sters. Insulta numa rului mare a fost fatala numarului mic. Sau, ca sa-l parafrazez pe Churchill: niciodata atit de multi romani n-au nedreptatit atit de mult pe atit de putini.

Asa ca, draga dobitocule, prietene: daca vezi citiva exaltati cu plete, ochelari si chitare uneltind undeva, intr-o zona simbolica a orasului, nu te mai enerva. Abtine-te si treci pe trotuarul celalalt. Se pune la cale viitorul tau si e mai bine sa nu-ti dai cu parerea.

After Michael Jackson was found innocent in the US…in Romania,

Miron Cozma was freed this evening, after the Court in Craiova admitted his contestation against his last arrest mandate.

The aresst was made after the former President Ion Iliescu pardoned Cozma as a last controversial gesture as a President (Iliescu is today on trial for his implication in the same events in June 13 -15, 1990 – the same events that put Miron Cozma into jail the first time)

The Court freed the jailed leader of a miners' riot that helped topple the country's first post-communist government in 1991, upholding the controversial pardon given him by the president in December.

Miron Cozma had spent seven years in jail out of an 18-year sentence when then President Ion Iliescu pardoned him just before leaving office. Two days later Iliescu cancelled the pardon because of public outrage at home and abroad.

Cozma appealed against the cancellation of his pardon, seen at the time as a favour by Iliescu, 75, to a political ally.

"The court approved the petitioner's complaint. The court orders the petitioner to be freed immediately," a judge from the court in the southern city of Craiova told the private television station Realitatea TV.

In September 1991, Cozma led thousands of coalminers from the northwestern Jiu Valley to Bucharest, where they invaded parliament, set fire to government buildings and forced Prime Minister Petre Roman to resign.

Iliescu, who ruled Romania for 11 of the 15 years after the fall and execution of Stalinist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu in 1989, has been accused of masterminding the riots (especially the one in June 1990) to tighten his shaky grip on power. He has repeatedly denied the claims.

Last week prosecutors summoned him to a criminal inquiry into similar violence in June 1990, when 20,000 coalminers came to Bucharest and crushed demonstrations against Iliescu's rule, leaving six people dead and more than 100 wounded.

Iliescu denied allegations that he had summoned the miners, saying they themselves decided to board trains to the capital to rescue the nation from "hooligans" demonstrating against him.

It's quite interesting...we might see Cozma free, putting Iliescu in jail with his testimony about the events in 13-15 June 1990 and Mr Iliescu’s implication in the riots.

But it is so hard to believe that Mr Iliescu will spend his last years in jail…

Time will tell…

Cozma is free now…but he might be prosecuted and condemned for the events in September 1991 also…and getting back to jail…he might become jail-mate with Ion Iliescu…

Michael Jackson found NOT GUILTY!

Jurors in the Michael Jackson child molestation trial have informed the trial judge they have reached a verdict:

Michael Jackson has been found innocent on all 10 counts in his child molestation trial.

The jury of eight women and four men delivered the verdict in California Superior Court here on their seventh day of deliberations, which began June 3.
The jury was not sequestered and took weekends off.

Shortly after word that a verdict had been reached was made public, television helicopters were hovering over Mr. Jackson's Neverland ranch. Cable news channels broadcast a nearly constant stream of images showing Mr. Jackson's small convoy of sport utility vehicles en route to the courthouse for the reading of the verdict. At the courthouse, crowds gathered outside awaiting his arrival.

Mr. Jackson, wearing tinted aviator glasses, a dark blazer, black tie and white wing-collar shirt, was accompanied by several members of his family, including his father and mother, two brothers and two sisters. He stopped briefly as he walked toward the courthouse lobby to wave to the throngs of fans calling out to him.

The jury in Santa Maria, California, found Jackson innocent on all counts of lewd conduct with a child younger than 14 years old. They also acquitted him on additional counts of serving the boy alcohol with the intent of committing a felony and of conspiring to hold the boy and his family captive.

The jury concluded that prosecutors failed to prove accusations Jackson, 46, molested the boy, a cancer survivor, while he was staying at the singer's Neverland ranch. Jackson's lawyer, Thomas Mesereau Jr. told the jury the boy and his family were motivated by money and that they had lied on prior occasions for financial gain.

The defense partly relied on testimony by talk-show host Jay Leno and actor Chris Tucker, who said they had misgivings about the boy. The men had gotten to know the child in 2000 when he was fighting cancer. Tucker called the boy ``cunning'' and said he at one point warned Jackson to watch out for the boy's mother.

Jackson faced a sentence of as many as eight years in jail for an individual count of molestation and lesser terms for any additional counts.

A California grand jury last year indicted Jackson for molesting the boy who was seen holding hands with Jackson in a February 2003 television documentary ``Living With Michael Jackson.'' The documentary stirred up controversy because in it the singer talks about sharing his bedroom with children.

The boy had said Jackson molested in the months after the documentary had aired.

Former child star Macaulay Culkin also testified for the defense, saying that the singer never behaved improperly toward him and called allegations that Jackson molested children are ``ridiculous,'' according to the Associated Press.

It is the second time Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon Jr. has investigated Jackson for molestation. In 1993, after accusations Jackson molested a different 13-year-old boy, Sneddon didn't file criminal charges because the boy refused to testify. Jackson, who maintained his innocence, settled a civil lawsuit brought by the child.

Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, in 1958. He started his career singing with his four brothers as ``The Jackson 5'' in the 1960s. He starred alongside singer Diana Ross in the 1978 film ``The Wiz,'' an adaptation of ``The Wizard of Oz.''

He went solo in 1979 with ``Off The Wall'' and released the record-breaking ``Thriller'' album in 1982. Thriller sold about 45 million copies worldwide and featured songs such as ``Beat It'' and ``Billie Jean.'' The album generated seven Top 10 singles and earned eight Grammy awards.

"The journalists' kidnapping" by Mr. Basescu

As you already know from the news and also from my latest post, the kidnapping of Prima TV reporter Marie Jeanne Ion, cameraman Sorin Miscoci and daily Romania Libera reporter Ovidiu Ohanesian shocked the Romanian public this spring. The three journalists and Monaf, their guide and ‘sponsor’, were freed on May 22 after spending 55 days in captivity.

Traian Basescu, Romania's president said Monday the three Romanian journalists who spent nearly two months in captivity in Iraq were victims of a botched kidnapping plan by their Iraqi-American guide Munaf and the Syrian-born businessman - Omar Hayssam. The plan was meant to help Hayssam - who was banned from leaving Romania because he was under investigation for economic crimes - to leave Romania.

Munaf allegedly carried out the kidnapping with the help of some friends, but he lost control after a few days when a well organized Iraqi insurgent group intervened and took over the hostages, including himself, Basescu said Monday. Though Monaf is suspected of orchestrating the kidnapping, the former hostages have said he was held with them the entire time.

President Traian Basescu, who headed a crisis team that worked to free the journalists, provided the first play-by-play account of the kidnapping at a news conference where he detailed contacts between Romanian negotiators and the kidnappers.

On Monday, Basescu recounted critical moments during tense negotiations with media savvy kidnappers, when authorities did not know whether the journalists had been executed.

``On April 21, the kidnappers' negotiator said he would provide us with a Web site to watch the hostages being decapitated,'' he said. Two days later, however, a group calling itself Maadh Bin Jabal claimed responsibility for the kidnapping in a videotape aired on Al-Jazeera television. The video showed the hostages were still alive, but the kidnappers issued a public ultimatum for Romania to withdraw its 800 troops from Iraq.

Basescu said Romania refused to withdraw the troops and did not pay a ransom.

``I confess that the decision was extremely difficult because I knew that nothing justifies the loss of lives,'' said Basescu.

Basescu, who has previously warned that full disclosure may not come for 50 years, said the kidnappers also proposed exchanging the journalists for 20 Romanian soldiers serving in Iraq, or for Romanian help to try to obtain the release of some imprisoned Iraqis.

He said Romania offered instead to send humanitarian aid to Iraq, but did not say whether the kidnappers accepted that offer.

The president also criticized the three journalists for failing to follow security guidelines during their stay in Iraq.

The three journalists held a news conference last week, saying they spent most of the time blindfolded and crowded in a small cellar.

The kidnappers later said they freed the hostages after an appeal by Romania's Muslims and a prominent Saudi preacher.

Romanian prosecutors have issued arrest warrants on terrorism charges related to the kidnapping for Hayssam and Monaf, who is currently in U.S. custody in Iraq. Basescu said Romania has asked the United States to send Monaf to Romania to face charges, but that no agreement has been reached.

Hayssam is being detained in Bucharest on charges of economic crimes and terrorism.

The Press Conference of the three kidnapped journalists

Today, just a few hours before, the three Romanian journalists kidnapped for 55 days in Iraq hold their first official press conference.

The ‘atmosphere’ there was much tensioned because of the inflation of scenarios in the media and the lack of true straight answers from the authorities or the kidnapped journalists.

Here you can find - only in Romanian language - the main ideas in the press conference and Here, here and here you can find three video captures from the conference.

There were two (or maybe three) sides with journalists in the Arcub conference room:
- On one side were the three Romanian journalists kidnapped and freed, Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci & Ovidiu Ohanesian

- In a special position were their colleagues from Prima TV – the only TV station that broadcasted live the press conference - Cristina Topescu and Dan Tudor as moderators and

- On the other side many, many journalists from the Romanian media, 'colleagues' eager to find out more about the kidnapping, the moment of the rescue or release, the connections with Hayssam and Munaf and the explosive and controversial idea that at least one of the kidnapped journalists were somehow involved in the kidnapping…

Of course, as many of us expected, Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci & Ovidiu Ohanesian couldn’t answer many of the hot questions especially those about the rescue and negotiation process.

One of my observations is that Sorin Miscoci talked less then 'Jana' and Ovidiu.

And, Ovidiu told us once that we must understand that he and they can not tell us some things but we can 'read among the lines' his interview in Romania Libera and his declarations in order to understand more.

I hope that Mr Traian Basescu will keep his promise and in a week or so he will tell us more about the whole story, about the implication of Hayssam and Munaf and all the details that are not classified.

Of course I understand that some things need to be and will be classified and kept secret for many years…but we sure need to stop all the scenarios, suppositions and suspicions and find the truth once and for all.

The plane with the three Romanian journalists - Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci & Ovidiu Ohanesian has landed a few minutes ago in Bucharest.

In the airport, family members, friends and colleagues wear special “Welcome back home” t-shirts.

Welcome back home!

Mr President Traian Basescu and the Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu welcomed them home on the airport.

The people who brought them home and accompanied them in the airplane wear special black 'caps' on their faces to protect their identity.

Here you can see a short clip with their first steps on the Romanian land after 56 days of terror.

Mohamed Munaf had been detained in Iraq by the US authorities.

The Romanian authorities freed the four kidnapped Romanian citizens and although Mohamed Munaf wanted to come back in Romania , the American authorities in Iraq exercised their right to detain Mr. Munaf (who is also an american and iraqian citizen). It seems that he either knows something or is involved in something.

Mr Munaf will be interrogated in Baghdad because it seems he has infos about some imminent threat for the American and Coalition forces in Iraq.

More than that, there can be a connection between Mr Omar Hayssam’s arrest in Romania and Mr. Munaf’s detention in Iraq. And the two of them may be somehow involved in the initial kidnapping of the three Romanian journalists.

Mr President Basescu told us yesterday that he will be able to tell us the whole story and present us the big picture in two weeks, because the case is not yet closed!

I can’t wait…

Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci & Ovidiu Ohanesian will be in some sort of ‘quarantine’ as a standard procedure in such kidnapping cases.

We must appreciate and thank all the people involved in the negotiations and in this happy ending…especially the ‘invisible people’ and the people in the secret services…maybe we’ll find out more about the whole operation in 20-50 years… But that’s why they are called Secret services - because ‘it’s secret’ …

They are finally and officially free!

They are free!

The three Romanian journalists kidnapped in Iraq and their guide are free.

Starting today, Sunday May 22, 13:44 they are under the Romanian authoririties protection.

It is certain that there have been negotiations, but we still do not know what was the reason and 'the cause' of their freedom.

We are waiting for more details from the Presidency.

Was it a deal? An assault? Something else? Was it a political kidnapping, a 'classic' for the money kidnapping or something elese? What was the connection between Omar Haysam in Bucharest and the kidnappers if there was any connection? Still unanswered questions...

The Romanian Presidency was clear but very short and with no special details:

“Cei trei cetăţeni români - Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci şi Ovidiu Ohanesian - şi cetăţeanul american de origine irakiană Mohammad Munaf se află, de astăzi, 22 mai, începând cu ora 13.44, sub controlul autorităţilor române”

We know that the four are well and unharmed and will be brought home as soon as possible!

I am happy for them and their families but still curious and excited to find the details, discover the big picture and understand the whole story.

It sure is a victory for the Romanian democracy, the Romanian Foreign Relations and the Romanian Foreign Policy and especially a great victory for our President Traian BASESCU.

But above all Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci şi Ovidiu Ohanesian and Mohammad Munaf are alive and free and this is the great news we all have been expecting after a time with no news and no details about the kidnapping and after our president told us that we can expect anything and we must be ready for the worse.
